Welcome to The Swan's Nest...

We sincerely hope that the meal and refreshments taken here with us will be enjoyable and that you will want to visit us again soon. Most of the ingredients we use are locally produced and all dishes are ‘Home-Made’ on the premises and therefore served as fresh as possible. If there is anything special that you would like, please ask; we can’t promise but we’ll try.

The Swan’s Nest first became a pub in 1876 when the owner applied for a licence to sell cider. It was called The Railway Inn but changed it’s name around 1960. The Manager Tony Amatruda has run The Swan’s Nest since March 1989.

Policy

In these days of fast foods, convenience foods, and processed foods full of saturated fats, high salt levels and ‘E’ numbers, isn’t it reassuring that at the Swan’s Nest all our food is home-cooked? Where possible, we only buy food from Devon’s finest producers thus guaranteeing the quality of our products.

Not for us, the buying of pre-prepared vegetables soaked in chemicals, nor would we consider buying meat from any part of the planet that has been frozen indefinitely. Not for us intervention meat as so many of our competitors use.

Do we have an army of microwave ovens operated by fresh faced kids straight out of school? We have only experienced and fully-qualified chefs with years of professional experience.
